Farmers, taxis, VTC drivers, service agents from the Haute-Garonne department… These sectors are mobilizing from Monday, November 25, to express their anger and make their various demands heard. Actions are planned in several cities in the region, with Toulouse at the epicenter.
The farmers' protest movementfirstly, continues this week of November 25 in several departments. In Haute-Garonne, members of the FDSEA and Young Farmers plan to meet on Thursday, November 28 in the morning. From 9:30 a.m., they will go to the main administrative sites of the pink city such as the premises of the Regional Directorate of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (Draaf), those of the French Office of biodiversity or the Adour-Garonne Water Agency. The procession will then stop in front of the premises of the Haute-Garonne prefecture around 12 p.m., to grill some food. Around 200 people are expected by the unions. A day which will take place without a tractor and during which traffic will not be blocked.
A “dumpster festival” in Montauban
In Tarn-et-Garonne, farmers will “pour out their anger”in the words of the president of FDSEA 82, Damien Garrigues. An operation called “Festival des bennes” which will take place on Tuesday November 26 from 7 p.m. in Montauban. Here too, the demonstrators planned to target the premises of the prefecture and the Departmental Directorate of Territories (DDT). In Ariège, a filter dam with tasting of local products will be set up by farmers from the FDSEA and JA at the Sabart roundabout, in Tarascon-sur-Ariège, Wednesday November 27 between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Then during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, they will go to the two entrances to the town of Saint-Girons, route de Foix and route de Toulouse, to intercept trucks and check the goods they are transporting. Finally in Aveyron, members of the FDSEA and JA want to organize a cow parade at the end of the morning. Around twenty animals will wander through the streets of Rodez, up to the Place d'Armes, in front of the cathedral.
Taxis and VTCs mobilized in Toulouse
Taxis provide “punch actions” Tuesday, November 26, with “blockages at strategic points in the city of Toulouse and the department of Haute-Garonne”announces Rémy Tampellini, secretary of the Haute-Garonne taxi union organization. But he does not give more details concerning the exact gathering places, even if he assures that he wants “disturb as little as possible people going to work” and therefore rather “targeting state structures”like the prefecture premises for example.
A mobilization “planned to last, spread over several days or several weeks”but no snail operation on the program for Toulouse taxis, therefore, unlike VTC drivers. They will meet on Wednesday, November 27, from 6:30 a.m. from the Sesquières park car park. Slowdowns are expected on the outer ring road, with several dozen vehicles traveling at low speed in the Pont des Demoiselles district, on the Allée des Demoiselles before stopping on the Allée Frédéric Mistral. The VTC drivers will then head towards the offices of the Uber company, in the Compans-Cafarelli district.
The service agents of the department of Haute-Garonne, for their part, are mobilizing this Tuesday, November 26 to protest against the budget cuts and the “austerity plan measures” announced by the president of the Departmental Council, Sébastien Vincini. Concretely, demonstrators from departmental services will gather in Toulouse from 9 a.m. in front of the headquarters of the Departmental Council, at the Pont des Minimes. Around 10:30 a.m., the mobilized people will go down towards the Arnaud-Bernard district, take Boulevard de Strasbourg then Rue Bayard and return towards the Departmental Council along the Canal du Midi.
