Three injured, a knife displayed, two arrests against a backdrop of menaces, d’insults and of homophobic violence punctuated the night from Friday to Saturday, in front of the gay-friendly bar Le Pride, in a street in the heart of the city, between the Maison Carrée and the Arènes, Nimes.
On the night of Friday 22 to this Saturday, November 23, 2024, a few minutes after the establishment closed, around 1:15 a.m., there was a pounding on the door, while homophobic insults rang out. Inside are the two operators and two friends. When one of them opens the door, two individuals lurking behind the low wall very close to Pride appear and once again make homophobic threats.
The owners and their two friends ask the two strangers for explanations, but one of them takes out a knife and points the blade at them. A scene witnessed by another customer who had just left the night bar and who, being nearby, had his attention attracted by the commotion.
8cm wound
As he appears in front of the bar, the attackers want to fight: the result is three injured, including one of the Pride operators. One of the victims had an 8cm wound on his face when he was rescued, an injury undoubtedly resulting from a stab wound.
