This Val-d'Oise school wins the Samuel-Paty prize

A huge reward for this école of Val-d'Oise.

At the end of October, students and teachers of the Bourguignons school in Ézanville received, from the hands of the Minister ofNational educationAnne Genetet, the price Samuel-Paty.

It rewards a civic project carried out by a class at the establishment.

History

The Samuel-Paty Prize is initiated by the Association of History and Geography Teachers (Aphg). They wanted to pay tribute to their colleague who was murdered four years ago, after showing caricatures in class during a moral and civic education course on freedom of expression.

This prize aims to “promote the cohesion and cooperation with a class project, centered on democratic principles and values.”

In the category of elementary schools, which participated for the first time, the Bourguignons d'Ézanville school won the 2023/2024 edition.

Its theme was secularism.

The victory was achieved thanks to a fresco composed by Ms. Hubert's CM1 students and CM2 students from my class. We started from the observation that teaching secularism was a complex and delicate theme. Approaching it through a unifying and collaborative project seemed interesting and motivating for our students.

To do this, after having worked and clarified the term secularismteachers and schoolchildren “developed” a word cloud.

“The pillars of the fresco are the words that each of our students chose and wrote in a flower to symbolize secularism. »

On it, two Marianas face each other, the main tense.

“The students are very proud and we, the teachers, are also work that they achieved. »

To reward them, the Aphg offered the students a visit to the Senate a you PantheonFriday October 18.

The next day, Saturday October 19, the students and their teachers were invited to La Sorbonne for the official ceremony.
