Haut-Jura. 2024, an unforgettable Olympic year for shooting

The year 2024 will remain engraved in the history of the Haut-Jura sports shooting club. The shooting range located on Quai Jobez, in Morez, was selected to host several national teams as part of their preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This recognition of local facilities allowed the club to play a key role in the support for French athletes.

Rub shoulders with champions

This summer, the club had the honor of welcoming the French para-shooting team, under the direction of Éric Viller and Franck Badiou. The athletes, including Jean-Louis Michaud, Justine Bève, Pierre Guillaume Sage, Tanguy De La Forest, Kevin Liot, Cédric Fèvre-Chevalier, Gaëlle Edon and Didier Richard, took advantage of the facilities at Morez and Les Marais. These champions then participated in the Châteauroux Paralympic Games from August 30 to September 5, 2024. The club followed with emotion the tests and vibrated during the podiums where Tanguy De La Forest won gold and Jean-Louis Michaud bronze.

“Half of the team already knew the Morezian facilities, in particular thanks to Franck Badiou who worked for many years at the National Center for Nordic and Medium Mountain Skiing in Prémanon and still lives there. The accommodation was located at the foot of the Dôle, which created a friendly atmosphere. The young people of the club were delighted to rub shoulders with these champions. It motivated them for the future.”

A reference center

In July, the club also hosted the Puerto Rican riflewoman Yarimar Mercado Martinez and his trainer Hannah Black, an event that strengthened the image of Haut-Jura as a reference point in sports shooting.

With 90 members, including two para-shooters, Jean-Yves Masson and Cécile Cantilzoglou, the club continues to grow. “We also wish develop the crossbow activity », Specifies Éric Barbe, proof of the ambition to diversify disciplines and broaden opportunities for members.

The Franco-Swiss 10 hours

On Saturday November 9, 2024, the club organized a friendly competition The Franco-Swiss 10 Hours open to the public, an event which made it possible to relive these highlights of the year. Throughout the day, spectators had the opportunity to see the local shooters in action, and to share a moment of conviviality around this sport. This 10-hour competition was also a way to celebrate past successes and look to the future with optimism.

2024 thus marks a turning point for the Haut-Jura sports shooting clubwith ambitious plans for the future and enthusiasm as strong as ever. These events have strengthened the links between practitioners, coaches and local institutions, consolidating the club as a key player in the local sporting landscape.
