This night of Friday, October 11, a driver increased the number of violations on the roads of Haute-Loire. That evening, a 20-year-old Monistrolian created panic on the RN88.
After a drunken evening in a bar with a sidekick, aged 30, who a few moments later turned out to be his passenger, the driver took to the road with a high level of alcohol in his blood, according to the findings of the gendarmes.
Unconscious when help arrived
Driving in the wrong direction around midnight on the Pont-de-Lignon road after the Vilettes roundabout, he did not suspect that, a few moments later, he would experience an eventful end to the evening. Everything changes at the start of the descent after the roundabout leading to Les Vilettes. The young motorist hit the wall of a house before ending his journey in the hedge of another house. Residents who were still on their land at the time witnessed the scene. Fortunately, they were not injured.
However, the material damage is significant. Found unconscious by firefighters, the man was transported to the North hospital in Saint-Étienne. Very agitated, he must be brought under control by the police. His passenger was evacuated to the emergency room of the Corbusier hospital in Firminy.
Taken into custody after the accident
Following the accident, the Monistrolian was not questioned directly, his state of health not permitting it. However, a toxicological check is carried out by the gendarmes. The individual tested positive for alcohol, not drugs.
When he left the North hospital, he was placed in police custody to be interviewed. He was then released and is currently the subject of a summons by a judicial police officer (COPJ). He will be tried by the magistrates of the Puy-en-Velay criminal court on February 18, 2025 to answer for his offenses.
In an unrecoverable condition, the Audi A3, owned by his parents, was sent for destruction. For his part, the young man logically had his license withdrawn.
As a reminder and less than a week before the events, a man was intercepted by the gendarmerie driving in the wrong direction between Le Pertuis and Saint-Hostien on the RN88.
