If in , the magic of Christmas has been constantly followed for decades and the horrors of Halloween have been gaining ground in recent years, it is a typically American holiday which hardly crosses the Atlantic: Thanksgiving. While the United States has just elected its President, a splendid castle in the Tarn take over this party to have it tasted.

Thanksgiving is “thanksgiving”. A major holiday in the USA, where the day (the fourth Sunday in November) is a public holiday. This year it will be November 28. In summary, we commemorate the Pilgrim Fathers, the English dissidents who disembarked from the Mayflower at the beginning of the 17th century.e century, we get together as a family and eat turkey. Fans of American series know something about this, almost all of them offer special episodes for this occasion. Those nostalgic for Friends have still imprinted on the retina the image of Monica with her head stuck in a huge turkey…).

At the table!

Impossible to export to France? If the purely historical aspect of the celebration only concerns Americans, on the table, there is something that many more people can agree on. This is undoubtedly the reasoning which pushed the Fiac castlenot far from Lavaur to offer its customers a Thanksgiving evening.


This 19th century buildinge century completely renovated less than an hour from houses a four star hoteland luxurious Spa and the restaurant Renaissance. And it is precisely in the latter that we will set the table for a special dinner, thanks to chef Jérôme Travere on Thursday, November 28.

Turkey obviously

The menu (at 40 euros) has been revealed, and as one could imagine it is based on the classics of this celebration (stuffed turkey, potatoes or sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, apple and walnut tarts). pecan, pumpkin…). Here it is:

  • Foie gras appetizer
  • Holiday stuffed turkey and revisited, accompanied by a mashed potatoes with pecansa colorful gratin with seasonal vegetables (sweet potato and purple), sautéed green beans “in the turkey cooking juices for an authentic flavor” and the famous cranberry puree.
  • Creamy pumpkin pie and salted butter caramel.

Black Friday too

Note that the next day, another type of American holiday will be in the spotlight… Black Friday. Friday November 29, there will be big discounts on gift boxes, stays, meals, spa treatments…

The castle, which was a religious institute, belongs to the luxury hotel group The Pavilions Hôtels & Resorts, of which it is the first and only hotel in France. Nestled in a magnificent 3 hectare park with bicentennial trees, it opened its doors in June 2022, after three years of total renovation. In the residence, we find 10 luxury rooms and 6 suitesincluding one on the rooftop with breathtaking views of the Pyrenees. In terms of decoration, the character of the old, designer pieces and vintage furniture intertwine.

But it also has a place of its own. A wooden staircase decorated with… nearly 400 paintings!

For several months, the castle has also welcomed professionals in a new 180 m seminar space2 entirely open to the park. It can accommodate up to 200 people for cocktails, 80 people for conferences and 25 for meetings.
