At the initiative of the GTJ and the ENJ, the call for projects for the Plan Avenir Montagne was launched with the aim of creating “convivial spaces” in the Jura massif. The objective is to structure itinerant hiking practices, taking into account the management of visitor flows, while raising awareness among visitors of practices that respect nature. In the longer term, this initiative is part of a process of transforming mid-mountain tourism, aiming to promote “four-season” tourism and support the local economic fabric.

Foncine-le-Haut chosen for the Halte

Among the municipalities responding to this call for projects, Foncine-le-Haut was selected among the three pilot sites. This choice resulted in the installation of a stopover at the start of the Arboux multi-activity trapper site. The facilities include a social area, dry toilets, a new play area, as well as the renovation of the existing cabin. Entirely eco-designed in Jura woods, these developments, completed this fall, can now welcome itinerant hikers and sports enthusiasts.

Strong support from the Champagnole Nozeroy Community of Communes

This project, subsidized by the Community of Communes Champagnole Nozeroy*, is part of a broader territorial tourism strategy. In addition to its role in promoting tourism, the Community of Municipalities also contributes to local development and supports project leaders, as evidenced by the creation of a “totem” panel promoting the surrounding natural resources. Located near remarkable sites such as the Roche Fendue and Bulay belvederes, this stop is thus positioned as a strategic point for discovering the territory and contributes to strengthening the attractiveness of Foncine-le-Haut and more generally to the the entire Community of Communes. It is thus part of a broader network of tourist facilities for practicing outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking, trail running, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.).

* Funders / project budget: €145,000
