Faced with rapidly increasing needs, the Guadeloupe Food Bank is mobilizing

A few weeks before the end-of-year holidays, the food bank is calling this weekend, once again, on the generosity of Guadeloupeans. Needs are increasing sharply in 2024 and the objective is to be up to the task so that everyone has enough to eat.

Since this Friday, volunteers from the Guadeloupe Food Bank association have been present in 29 medium and large stores in the department. The principle remains unchanged: distribute empty bags at the entrance in the hope of recovering them filled with food after going through the checkout. An essential campaign a few weeks before the end of year holidays according to Cécile Francillette, president of the Guadeloupe structure.

Cleaning and hygiene products and products for babies and children are particularly in high demand by the association.

Last year, the food bank distributed more than 616 tons, which corresponds to more than 1.2 million meals. This year, these figures have been exceeded since September. Needs are growing sharply. Luckily, the next generation is here, yesterday soldiers from the RSMA were on the field to collect donations, this Saturday they are young basketball players.

The Bank is happy with this initiative by young people. When people like me stop, the next generation will be there and that's a very good thing.

So, if you can, donate to the food bank. Others need it
