The enthusiasm for this label which will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2025 cannot be denied: Gîtes de France was elected “French favorite brand” in the private accommodation rental category.

The third largest park in France

In 2024, in the only Côtes-d'Armorthe Gîtes de France network has grown by 233 new gîtes and 11 new guest houses. This brings the accommodation stock to 2,086, including 94% gîtes (118 guest houses and 4 other structures) and makes this department “the third largest park in France, behind the Finistère and the Savoy and in front of the Morbihan« .

Of course, the vast majority of Costa Rican Gîtes de France are concentrated in regions close to the coast.

But the territory of Loudéac Communauté Bretagne Center is not deprived of it, with all the same 64 gîtes (including 8 creations this year) and 13 guest houses.

55 members – owners of gîtes and guest houses – were expected in Loudéac for the general assembly of the sector, Friday November 15, 2024.

If so many owners looking to rent all or part of their property turn to Gîtes de France, it is because joining this association (for an annual fee of €150) offers many advantages.

Classify accommodations

But how to become a member?

Sophie Payouxdirector of Gîtes de France Côtes-d’Armor explains:

“In general, we are approached by telephone or email, but it can also be people who come to meet us because there are already Gîtes de France members in their entourage. We explain our system to them.”

The network takes care of to classify accommodation by granting them between one and five cobs to the maximum, for a comfortable standard.

In the Côtes-d'Armor we have a very good average of 3-4 ears.

Before entering the network, the owner receives an “advice visit”: “We go on site to see if there are any adjustments to be made, things to improve.”

There are criteria very specific to respect.

“Little things like the size of the beds; the fact that, if we accommodate 8 people, there must be eight chairs in the living room… We recommend separating the toilets from the bathroom, when possible; to have a room on the ground floor…”

The association also provides advice at the level tariff“It’s important,” emphasizes Sophie Payoux. For a gîte accommodating 6 people, you need to count between €600 and €800 inland and above €1,000 on the coast. But of course, everything depends on the capacity, the standing, the level of comfort. Some “waterfront” gîtes can be rented for €3,000…

70% of reservations are made on the Gîtes de France website, which can fully or partially manage marketing.

What about the Tour-de-France effect?

May 18, 2025 a giant picnic will be organized, probably near Loudéac to celebrate the 70^e anniversary of Gîtes de France.

But 2025 will also be the summer when the Tour-de-France passes through central Brittany. “Runners come with family or friends and are generally looking for accommodation. We know that there will be a positive impact on our accommodation, but it is difficult to quantify.”
