But at the end of last week, individuals decided to steal them. “The authors were not very smart,” declared Mayor Isabelle Gousmar on Thursday to our colleagues at La Dépêche du Midi, who revealed the theft. Indeed, the latter “ attached one of the designs to their car, thus leaving behind debris which led us to the home of one of them, in a neighboring town.”

Decorations reinstalled right on time

Even smarter? “With the help of video surveillance images, they were very quickly confused and admitted the facts when they were summoned to the Fronton gendarmerie,” continued the councilor. Returned, certain objects were able to be reinstalled – or replaced – in the following days within the village. Right in time for the Christmas market planned for this weekend in Montjoire.

On the other hand, for the suspects, the bill risks being steep. “This damage has a cost: nearly 8,000 euros that we had to pay to the company from which we rent the decorations,” according to the mayor.
