Since Thursday November 21, 2024, the roads of Orne have been under tension due to the snow which is falling heavily. Orange snow and ice vigilance is required throughout the territory.
The Orne departmental council has mobilized its resources, and the prefecture has taken a arrested to prohibit the circulation of heavy goods vehicles on the roads of the department.
However, despite these measures, many motorists found themselves stranded on snow-covered roads. Here are their testimonies.
Blocked roads and angry motorists
“The management of this snowy episode is a shame! How can we leave the main axes without maintenance! », indignant Stéphane on social networks.
Mylène shares this feeling: “They can't be everywhere, that's for sure, but we were still warned, orange vigilance last night. There was a way to anticipate a little I think… This morning, no salt spreader before the heavy snowfall… ».
Considering the snow falling, they can't be everywhere. On the other hand, the trucks were not supposed to drive and they blocked many axes.
A motorist, also annoyed, says: “ 4 hours blocked due to semi-trailers who should not ride (an order). Everyone in their wallets and bam, 4 hours to get out! “.
The problem is not the road officials, but the motorists or trucks not equipped with snow tires, because otherwise no worries, we go everywhere. Afterwards, a little patience, it only lasts 2 days.
Claudine adds: “At the Clos d'Athis coast, a truck blocked the road, so my son was forced to return to Flers on foot.”
Farmers and neighbors mobilized
Faced with these complicated situations, some residents expressed their gratitude to those who helped on the ground. Among them, farmers, neighbors, or simply motorists stranded by the weather.
“All I can say is that farmers helped me out of the situation and I thank them for that. I had a lot of respect for them, today it is even greater,” thanks Eugénie.
4 hours to do Condé – Saint-Rémy this afternoon… Disgusted! During this time, no snow removal vehicles passed. On the other hand, thank you to the farmers who came to help people everywhere, with their tractors!
Sébastien also describes the difficulties encountered: “Flers–Athis axis. Last salt spreader around 10 a.m. and nothing at all since. Thanks to our neighbors with whom we joined forces to push the cars. And our farmers who did the job of the department!!!”.
Mathéo, for his part, prefers to take the situation with humor and derision: “We stayed in slippers and dressing gown», he concludes.
