The wind has already been blowing well in France with the Caetano storm in recent days. 17 departments were even placed on orange alert for wind this Thursday, November 21. And it will start blowing again from this Saturday, November 23.

Between 90 and 120 km/h in Brittany

In fact, “a low pressure system currently stationed over Ireland will generate a southerly flow over the Iberian Peninsula (in France), and completely change the air mass”, tells us Yann Amice, meteorologist at Weather & Co .

France will thus be under the influence of this depression, called storm Bert by the Met Office (the British meteorological organization), which will generate a rise in temperatures, as we explained in a previous article. But also “strong winds” in Brittany in particular.

“It will blow hard from Saturday in Brittany, but especially on Sunday, when we will have gusts between 90 and 120 km/h,” explains Yann Amice toactu.fr.

The entire northwest affected

Generally speaking, “the entire northwest half of France will be affected by strong winds,” according to the meteorologist.

The European meteorological model ECMWF shows, for this Sunday, the extreme tip of Brittany (northern Finistère in particular) affected by the most violent gusts (between 100 and 110 km/h), but also the rest of Brittany in prey to gusts between 80 and 100 km/h, just like the English Channel. The Weather Channel even talks about 4 meter waves in the Channel.

From the north of France (via the north of Paris and the north of Normandy) to Pays-de-la-Loire, France will experience gusts between 60 and 90km/h.
