Sytral sets the development of eastern in stone

The board of directors of Sytral Mobilities approved the authorization requested for the development of mobility in the east of .

As made official by Bruno Bernard, president of the Métropole de Lyon et du Sytral, Thursday October 24, the creation of the T8 tram line and the extension of the future High Level of Service Bus (BHNS) Part-Dieu – Sept-Chemins will see well during the day. Meeting this Thursday, the board of directors of Sytral Mobilities approved the authorization in this regard. In order to carry out these two structuring projects, Sytral will launch a phase of meetings before the end of 2025 with all economic and institutional stakeholders in the territories concerned. The two projects should not be delivered before 2030. Furthermore, elected officials also approved the requested authorization to refer the public debate to the National Commission on the creation of the T8 tramway.

A need in the face of “Eastern economic dynamism”

As a reminder, this development in eastern Lyon through the future T8 tram line will offer residents a dozen stations. The planned route is 8.1 km long. The cost is estimated at 245 million euros. It will notably improve service to the Porte des Alpes campus and “will support the urban projects planned on the Carré de Soie, on the priority district of the -Terraillon city policy and on the changing district around the Vénissieux train station“, explains, among others, Bruno Bernard.

As for the extension of the BRT, it “will contribute to strengthening the economic dynamism of the East, will improve access to the Porte des Alpes campus and will allow a mix of functions with residential development, in certain sectors“, promises Béatrice Vessiller, vice-president of the Métropole de Lyon and Sytral Mobilities.
