The commune of Chirongui has just written a new page in the cultural history of Mayotte. Its Cultural Center has indeed obtained the prestigious 100% EAC label, a first for an overseas territory.
In June 2024, the City of Chironguihas obtained the famous 100% Artistic and Cultural Education label. This distinction was made official during an official ceremony in the presence of the Prefect and the Rector, this Thursday, November 21. The commune of Le Port, in Reunion, also obtained this prestigious recognition.
A project driven by passion
After having obtained the “Art and essay” and “Scène conventionnée” labels, the cultural department of this Mahorese commune continues its rise by winning the label 100% EAC.
Lisa Patin, director of the Cultural Center, is delighted with this success. “ It is the promotion of the work of an entire team who worked tirelessly to make Chirongui a place where art and culture are at the heart of life. “, she emphasizes. Arriving in 2021, she quickly implemented an ambitious strategy aimed at obtaining this label, drawing on her experience acquired in other regions of France.
The label 100% EAC is based on three pillars: the encounter with the artist and the work, artistic practice and the acquisition of knowledge. The cultural center of Chirongui offers a multitude of activities suitable for all ages, from the discovery of works of art to creative workshops.
Deserved recognition
For Rector Jacques Mikulovic, this labeling is a strong signal: “ Culture means giving meaning to our world, promoting individual development and the construction of a fairer and more united society. » Prefect François-Xavier Bieuville agrees, emphasizing the essential role of the Cultural Center in promoting Mahorese culture and its potential to inspire other territories. “ For me, the Chirongui Cultural Center is the spearhead of cultural development in Mayotte. It is an extraordinary and irreplaceable tool, because it helps promote Mahorese culture. » indicated the senior official.
The challenges ahead
If this distinction is an immense source of pride for the municipality of ChironguiLisa Patin and her teams do not intend to stop there. New projects are already underway to further enrich the cultural offering and maintain the level of excellence achieved. “ We will continue to work to develop new projects… but also stabilize and maintain our labels to perpetuate them, because it is important to show that even in Mayotte there are proposals for quality artistic and cultural projects as in mainland France. », assures the director of the Cultural Center and the cultural service of the City of Chirongui.
