The commune of Durcet (Orne) welcomes a new resident full of energy and enthusiasm. Margaux Parcineau, recently opened a gîte in an idyllic setting. She is preparing an original project of traveling educational farm.
Originally from Val-de-Marne, this former director of leisure centers decided to change her life and move to the countryside to get closer to nature and the values she advocates. “I was frustrated in my previous life, I lived in 20 m² ! ».
A fan of DIY and gardening, and enjoying the company of animals, she no longer felt in line with her desires. After the covid period and confinement, she felt the urgency to move towards a simpler life, in harmony with the environment. “The rural environment offers this opportunity,” she explains.
In love with the region and its inhabitants
She discovered the region thanks to friends from Val-de-Marne who settled in Ségrie-Fontaine. “ I loved this campaign and discovered mutual aid there.” She was amazed by the support and advice received from neighbors during the construction of her friends' wooden cabin. “The Normans of this region are not anti-Parisians.”
She also appreciated the dynamism of the territorynot too far from Paris with an attractive land price. With climate change looming, she also thinks the region will be more lenient than the south.
A crush on a house
In a very green environment, the house and its gîte are located on one hectare of land, including a small wood. She was able to indulge her love for DIY by renovating the entire interior of her small cottage for four people.
I did everything myself and also restored old furniture. It's part of my approach.
It is in this spirit of recovery that she named her lodge The Vintage Cottage which has already attracted many visitors since May 2024 in search of tranquility and authenticity.
It also offers optional breakfasts with local products. Organic milk from Carneille, bread from the farmer's baker from Bréel, fruit from his garden, homemade jam… Only organic and local!
The proximity of the village of the Roche d’Oëtre also seduced her. Indeed, the village is located in the hiking loop, where the poets' path is located, one of the 26 trails in this corner of Normandy Switzerland.
“It was an essential criterion for my tourist lodge project “, she confides. But Margaux Parcineau doesn't stop there.
A traveling educational farm
In her former life, this leisure center director had the opportunity to host traveling educational farms.
This gives children well-being, develops their autonomy and responsibility. Animals bring a lot of calm, serenity and joy.
So she followed a diploma course in order to develop its project. She plans to travel to institutions such as nursing homes, schools, after-school establishments, homes with her animals as mediators. “My animals are like my family.”
Cat, dog, rabbit, turtle, she plans to expand her small farm with guinea pigs, chickens, small goats and perhaps later a donkey or even a horse.
Head full of projects
She says she is very confident about this project which echoes her former life. “I am always in the reception, meeting different audiencesand environments. Like when I led the colonies.”
With a constrained travel time for animal welfare its geographical location is ideal, she confides.
In Île-de-France, you do 5 km in an hour.
Here, for the same time, it can go as far as Caen. A prospecting area much larger than the Paris region with Argentan and Flers in the east-west axis and Caen Alençon in the north-south axis.
This young entrepreneur lacks neither desires nor ideas. In the future, she plans to install on her land a fully autonomous trailer at the energy level. Closed until March for a renovation that she intends to do herself, her lodge will welcome tourists again on March 28, 2025 for a season 2 that she hopes will be as successful as the first.
With his head full of projects and sunshine in his eyes, this Norman adoptionstill has something to dream about for a few years.
