Feuquières: in Saverglass, still no agreement between management and unions

The unions once again refused the agreement proposed by Saverglass management. This therefore promises “other measures“.

Pascal Vallée, representative of the CGT, the majority union, has not changed his mind on the issue, whether for a 7% or 5% drop in salaries over six months.

They need 4 million euros but this reduction would only give them pennies. This proves that the measure has neither tail nor head and that it just aims to extract money from us. We do not want to take purchasing power away from employees. Afterwards, if the employees change their minds we will hold a referendum to find out if they agree to lower their salaries or not..”

Pascal Vallée, CGT representative

As for the CFDT representative, contacted by telephone, he did not wish to comment on the company's situation.

MP visits Saverglass employees

MP Philippe Ballard distributed leaflets to employees passing in front of Saverglass on Saturday November 16.

In front of the factory on Saturday November 16, MP Philippe Ballard (RN) distributed leaflets to passing employees. “I came to wish them good luck but some are already resigned.”

According to him, given that “the luxury sector will always have work“, the glassmaker, rather than reducing salaries, should look at his energy consumption.

It always starts with a drop in wages and it always ends badly. Saverglass is the symbol of French companies which are taking the full brunt of the energy crisis.”

Philippe Ballard

Philippe Ballard also pointed out the “unfair international competition which results in unemployment” and demanded “reduction of employer contributions on low wages“. The MP specifies that he asked to meet Saverglass management without obtaining a response.

New measures envisaged

Tuesday, November 20, Saverglass management indicated that no agreement had been reached with the unions.

“As the required signatures could not be collected at the end of the allotted deadline, management notes with regret that a joint employment protection agreement could not be found with the consent of the trade union organizations.”

Jean-Marc Arrambourg, CEO of Saverglass

Which leaves the threat of job cuts to keep the company alive.

To manage this situation, the company will therefore have to consider other measures which it will communicate in due time..”
