Maxim Massé’s dream is about to come true. The Rimouski player will be drafted in the coming hours by a National Hockey League (NHL) team.
The Chicoutimi Saguenéens forward may not have to wait very long. The probability that he will be selected in the first round of the draft, which takes place Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas, is very real.
The recruitment center of the NHL class 30e among North American skaters.
Named rookie of the year in the Canadian Hockey League in 2023, Maxim Massé collected 75 points in 67 games last season.
In April, he won the Michael Bossy Trophy, awarded to the best professional prospect in the Quebec Maritime Junior League (QMJHL).
Then in May, the Rimouski native won gold with Canada at the World Under-18 Championship.
The Oceanic well represented
No fewer than four players from the Rimouski Oceanic could be selected in the draft of the NHL.
Spencer Gill (29), Alexandre Blais (81), Quinn Kennedy (131) and Dominic Pilote (163) are all part of the list of the best North American prospects established by the League’s central scouting.

Gill is the highest ranked prospect in the QMJHLThe 17-year-old defenseman from New Brunswick had 46 points in 65 games last season. He also represented Canada at the World Under-18 Championship.
The first round of the draft takes place on Friday, with rounds two through seven taking place on Saturday.
