Luc Berthold encourages participation in the Canada Summer Jobs Program

The Member of Parliament for Mégantic-L’Érable and Deputy House Leader of the Official Opposition, Luc Berthold, would like to inform small business owners, municipalities and non-profit organizations that they can submit a request for funding in under the Canada Summer Jobs program now.

The application process will run until December 19, 2024. The Canada Summer Jobs program creates employment opportunities and provides useful work experience for people aged 15 to 30 during the upcoming summer period. Nonprofit organizations, public sector employers, and private sector employers with 50 or fewer full-time employees are eligible.

Non-profit organizations can receive a contribution of up to 100% of the provincial minimum hourly wage, while public and private sector employers are eligible for a contribution of 50% of the hourly wage. The jobs offered must be a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks.

“This program allows young people to acquire work experiences that contribute to their development and independence. They are thus better equipped to develop skills that will help them be more successful in the job market,” emphasizes Luc Berthold.

Finally, remember that additional points will be awarded to projects that align with the following local priorities: projects supporting community organizations; projects supporting the development of local and regional tourism; projects supporting children and/or young people; projects supporting agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishing; projects supporting environmental protection.
