The Caetano storm hits France. Météo-France placed 54 departments on orange alert on Thursday, November 21 due to snow, ice or violent winds. In detail, 31 departments on alert for “snow-ice”, mainly in the northern part of the country and in the Alps, and 23 for “wind”. In his bulletin published at 4 p.m.the forecaster lifted the orange “wind” vigilance in the Breton departments of Finistère and Morbihan.
“Snowfall continues to the plains from Normandy, to the Paris Basin and to Alsace,” reports Météo-France. In Brittany, gusts of 111 km/h were measured in Brest, 123 km/h in Lorient and 126 km/h in Quimper.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, “new snow showers will occur in the departments near the Channel” et “some of them will be able to reach the north of the Paris region”. Furthermore, temperatures will drop and “generate refrost on the snow on the ground, therefore making these floors very slippery”. For Friday, Météo-France has placed 31 departments on orange alert, including 29 on “snow-ice” alert. The two departments of Corsica will be on “strong winds” alert.
