If the adventure of the Black Devils in the Coupe de France ended with a defeat this Wednesday evening, the controversy over the presence of players in an irregular situation in Mahorais football continues. The municipal councilor of Mamoudzou, Jacques Martial Henry, calls for stopping this practice.
The Black Devils of Combani were eliminated this Wednesday, November 20 in the eighth round of the Coupe de France, beaten 2-0 by USC Corté. The end of an adventure full of twists and turns, starting with the absence of seven players, deprived of travel because they were in an irregular situation. “I salute their journey, and above all I am satisfied that they won the first match without clandestine with them“, estimates the municipal councilor of Mamoudzou, Jacques Martial Henry.
He pleads for an end to the issuance of licenses to illegal foreigners by the Mahorean football league. He takes as an example the story of his cousin, who died more than 30 years ago, and whose name would have been used to create a sports license. “This story still haunts me today“, he sums up. “In the future, we will take these cases to court. Club presidents are responsible for that.“
The municipal councilor calls for the expulsion of undocumented players. “Sport brings us together, but there is a red line: a person in an irregular situation, we cannot condone that.”, adds Jacques Martial Henry, denouncing “mercenaries“which would be bought by the Mahorais clubs. He also criticizes”hypocrisy” of the National Rally, after the request of MP Anchya Bamana to regularize these players.
