Casablanca – SOS Children’s Villages Maroc organized, Wednesday evening in Casablanca, in partnership with the Nagham Association, its charity evening “Alchemy of Songs”, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the construction of the first SOS Children’s Village in Morocco.
This unique concert featured an unprecedented marriage between Arabic and French-speaking songs, blending the musical universes of legendary singers Abdelhalim Hafez and Jacques Brel. The alchemy between these two styles, performed by renowned artists like Houda Saad, Ayoub Tijani, Mamoun Salaje, Fihr Kettani and Farid Senhaji, offered the public a show rich in emotions and musical diversity.
The alchemy between these two styles, one deeply rooted in Arab culture and the other in French-speaking musical tradition, created a symbiosis that captured the attention and minds of the audience. The combination of captivating oriental melodies with the poignant lyrics of French song made it possible to build a bridge between two cultures, while celebrating universal and timeless values.
The truly committed artists masterfully interpreted these works, providing the audience with an exceptional sensory and emotional experience, transcending linguistic and cultural barriers.
In a speech, Amine Demnati, president of SOS Villages d’Enfants Maroc, underlined the importance of this evening which, beyond the tribute paid to these two giants of global Arab song, highlights essential values : unity, solidarity, and fraternity. “This event, held on the occasion of World Children’s Day, allows us to remember that music and art can be powerful levers to support a noble cause: the protection of children deprived of family support,” he said.
And continued: “This event also marks 40 years of our organization’s commitment to vulnerable children and, on this occasion, we are launching the construction of our sixth SOS Children’s Village in Dakhla, a flagship project for the children of southern Morocco”.
“Since its creation, the association has set itself the mission of providing vulnerable children with a secure and protective family environment, in order to offer them prospects for the future. The support of the local community, businesses and individuals, symbolized by this evening, is essential to guarantee the sustainability of this mission,” concluded the president.
“Today, we are organizing a vibrant simultaneous tribute to these two immortal artists. Through this exceptional concert, we also wish to highlight the importance of access to art and music for all children, without distinction, said Aziz Daddane, president of the Nagham Association.
And to continue: “Our junior choir project in public schools and social protection establishments represents an opportunity for development for many young people. This partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Morocco allows us to join forces to offer moments of culture while contributing to a better future for these children”.
Thus, this evening not only celebrated music, but also solidarity and commitment to the most vulnerable children. Thanks to the generosity of the participants, it will contribute to continuing the mission of SOS Children’s Villages Morocco, while highlighting the power of art as a vector of social change and support for youth in difficulty.
