At the call of the inter-union CGT, Sud and FO, agents of the Departmental Council from all over Haute-Garonne gathered to protest against the budgetary restrictions announced by the executive. “Unprecedented budgetary constraints”

Anger rumbles just as loudly in the fields as in the offices of the Department. In question, the elimination of hundreds of positions and the drastic budget cuts announced as part of the Finance Bill Project of the government. In total, almost 500 jobs would be threatenedcausing concern among the contract workers concerned and their unions.

“The Departmental Council of Haute-Garonne is currently facing unprecedented budgetary constraints, due to a drop in revenue of more than 250 million euros and drains on departmental finances imposed by the 2025 Finance Bill,” declared the community.

New mobilization on November 26

A new strike notice has already been filed with the prefecture for Tuesday November 26, 2024. A mobilization that promises to be large-scale, renewable over seven days. “The objective is to strike continuously, until they give up. At the end of the day we will have another general assembly to decide on the continuation of the movement,” specifies Magali Giner, FO deputy secretary of the Departmental Council.

“We are expecting a lot of people”

The meeting is at 9 a.m., on the square of the Departmental Council located on Boulevard de la Marquette, near the Canal du Midi. The agents will parade through the streets of the center, passing through Boulevard de before returning to their place of departure. “There were 1,700 the first time, we expect many more people the second,” promises the union.
