the Landes FFI liberate the Landes, an exhibition for the transmission of memory

For several months, the exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the Liberation: “The Landes FFI liberate the Landes” has been traveling through the department. After Mimizan, Morcenx-la-Nouvelle, Saint-Paul-lès-, Aire-sur-l'Adour, Grenade, Mont-de-Marsan, it stops in the town of Cap de Gascogne, at the former François media library -Mitterrand, from Monday 18 to Monday 25 November.

Designed and produced by Jean Ooghe, president of the National Association of Veterans of the Resistance in collaboration with the Departmental Union of Veterans and the Association of Veterans and Friends of the Resistance, it offers 21 panels of photos and maps, recounting the active phase of the maquis which intensified from June 6, 1944 and highlights the sabotage operations, ambushes and battles carried out in the department.

Local details

Visitors will be able to discover or deepen their knowledge on the parachute drops of Boutoura or Losse, the maquis of Téthieu, the battles of Aire, Grenada, the Armagnac battalion, the Spanish maquis of Arx, the sabotage of gasoline stocks military from Saint-Paul-lès-Dax or ammunition trains to Laluque.

Monday, November 18, the opening of the exhibition took place in the presence of Raymond Daudet, president of UDAC and mayor Arnaud Tauzin, surrounded by Pierre-Yves Tivollier, commander of the Mont-de-Marsan gendarmerie company and Paul de Andreis, ONAC delegate. FREE ENTRANCE.
