This is a unique action for early childhood. In Vaucluse, the 40th Restos du coeur campaign begins with a clear priority: take better care of babies of 0 to 36 monthsreveals France Bleu Vaucluse.
“More and more babies in precarious circumstances”
The observation, although alarming, motivates the association's actions. “More and more babies are born in precarious conditions. Our great despair is to wonder if they will become the future beneficiaries of tomorrow. We want to do everything to avoid this,” explains Kathy Solere, deputy departmental manager, to our colleagues.
In Vaucluse, 8,500 meals are served each week but this year, the 18 distribution centers of the department have equipped themselves with suitable equipment, such as tables and chairs for toddlers, in order to provide a friendly welcome for families.
A balanced diet
Beyond the distributions, the emphasis is placed on a balanced and appropriate diet. Émilie Moreau, dietitian for the volunteers, offers simple solutions: “With the products distributed, it is possible to cook balanced meals that are suitable for the whole family, by simply adapting the cooking methods for babies. »
This support, essential for parents, is part of a prevention approach. “It’s not just about feeding, but helping families emerge from precariousness with sustainable solutions,” specifies the association.
Still in need of volunteers and donations
Each year, 1,200 tonnes of products are ordered but the needs remain immense. If last year, 2.2 million meals were distributed in the department, Restos du coeur are facing growing challenges: more single-parent families and a glaring lack of hygiene products.
Reason why the association is still looking for volunteers for daily actionsbut also donsincluding diapers, soaps and other hygiene products.
