The fire spread through the vegetation on a roundabout, in front of the Sainte-Thérèse church in Nantes, this Thursday, June 27 in the early afternoon. The origin of this fire, at the intersection of the boulevards des Américains, Jean-XXIII, Boulay-Paty and the road to Vannes, is unknown. But the fairly high flames came to lick the street signs of the tramway that pierces the roundabout, as shown in the photos.
As a safety measure, Semitan, which manages the public transport network in Nantes, decided to cut off the tram’s electricity supply around 2:30 p.m., until the fire was extinguished. Lines 1 and 3 were completely frozen for several minutes (line 2, under construction, is not running). Line 1 was able to leave around ten minutes later (except between Médiathèque and Bouffay). Then everything finally returned to normal shortly before 3 p.m., although with some delays to make up for on the affected lines.
