When France has “bad” justice

Is France heading towards a regime crisis? The question arises, given that, in a turbulent social context, justice has just placed a sword of Damocles over the head of Marine Le Pen. Before the judgment falls in the first half of 2025, it has the choice between two strategies: a Trump-style rupture or the pursuit of a “normalization” which would no longer have much meaning.

By threatening to politically kill Marine Le Pen, the prosecution, in other words the public prosecutor, may have made, without knowing it, a collateral victim: Emmanuel Macron. If, along with LFI, the RN were to want the overthrow of the Barnier government, then of all those who succeed it, it is difficult to see how the president could remain in place for much longer.
