There are fewer eyes on the streets and thieves feel more comfortable carrying out their plans.”

Good gestures

Against the seasonal resurgence of “cambris”, as they are called by law enforcement personnel, the departmental company commander of Montdidier mentions a range of prevention methods : “An effective device is theHoliday Tranquility operation. Burglars do not hesitate to use an excuse to pass through your door and locate goods to steal.” Without having to move, the gendarmes note that social networks are a new source of identification. They call for caution with regard to shared content.

Call for citizen cooperation

To do their job as best as possible, the gendarmes call for citizen cooperation and not hesitate to report suspicious behavior: “In a rural area, it’s all the easier to be vigilant because almost everyone knows each other. We invite the population to send us any observations that might interest us.”

Perhaps at the risk of falling into the rumor of the white van. Safer, however, is the fact “that we cannot put a gendarme at every intersection”, according to their words. A argument has the effect of a club: “It is partly thanks to the reports that we manage to catch them » .
