more and more single-parent families welcomed

New winter campaign for the Restos du Cœur de Haute-Corse, which, like every year, will last until mid-March.

During the last two winter and summer campaigns, 198,000 meals were given to beneficiaries in Haute-Corse, namely 800 households in winter and 750 in summer, a number that is constantly increasing.

Affected by an unprecedented financial crisis, Restaurants, both at the national and local level, had to resolve to refuse certain potential beneficiaries last year. This crisis being in the past, the remaining thresholds determining access or not to Restaurants have been raised for this new season.

At the distribution center, nearly thirty regular volunteers are involved, a number that remains insufficient.

We listen to Françoise Collomb-Luciani, president of Restos du Cœur de Haute-Corse.

Families, and more particularly single-parent ones, are at the center of priorities this season. At the national level, one in four beneficiaries is a parent raising one or more children alone.

This is the case of this mother, accompanied by her young daughter, who came to do her shopping at Restos du Cœur this Tuesday. Having no other choice but to be a stay-at-home mother, she has to deal with low financial income, mainly allowances and social assistance.

Inevitably, with the increase in the cost of living, the equation becomes more and more difficult to solve, especially during pivotal periods such as the start of the school year or the holidays. This mother underlines the capital importance of Restos du Cœur to continue to eat when she is hungry.

We listen to him.
