Although it has not yet been made official, Pope Francis' visit to Corsica continues to be prepared behind the scenes, particularly in the transport sector in order to bring the large expected public to Ajaccio on December 15.

Thus, Corsica Feries should set up an exceptional crossing on the occasion of the visit of the sovereign pontiff to the island, the confirmation of which should take place in the coming days.

“Corsica is about to experience an exceptional moment, indicates the shipping company on its Facebook page. In anticipation of this unique event, we are preparing a suitable crossing to facilitate your trip to Ajaccio, subject to official confirmation.”

Consequently, passengers who wish to go to Ajaccio will be able to board in Bastia on Saturday December 14 at 7:30 p.m., before disembarking on Sunday morning at 8 a.m. in the Imperial City.

The return crossing will take place on Sunday evening at a time which remains to be defined. The arrival in Bastia is scheduled for December 16 at 7 a.m.

Corsica Ferries specifies that “reservations will only open after confirmation” official arrival of Pope Francis.

Several tens of thousands of people could participate in the event. In Ajaccio, many hotels are fully booked for this weekend which promises to be historic.
