Behind a historic facade of the capital hides an elegant restaurant with a cozy atmosphere, which magnifies French gastronomy in a timeless setting, in the very famous rue Saint-Honoré.
Very close to the Louvre, in the most beautiful districts of the capital, a refined restaurant is waiting for you for a exceptional dinner. on listed facade in dark wood with its gold letters welcomes us, dating from 1823, where a grocery store and creamery then stood. The Fame of Cooked Herbs“. Since then, Paris has changed a lot, but the place has kept its soul, just as attached to the food professions, with a menu of classics of French gastronomy in a refined and upscale atmosphere.
Opened at the end of 2023, the Fame is the first restaurant of the American Hogsalt group in Europe. In a very long room, decorated with paintings and carved wood on the walls, very subdued lighting and leather benches, we feel the whole history of the building and of a not-so-bygone Old Paris, which gives us the impression of having changed eras. If the restaurant is quite dark, you feel comfortable there with a intimate side and caring staff, particularly responsive and smiling.
A atmosphere close to luxurybut not snobbish for a penny, which is however reflected in the price of the menu, not really affordable but really guarantees dishes of great taste quality. On the menu with slight New York influences, exceptional typical regional products and recipes from yesteryear! We started the evening with three hollow oysters from Brittanyconsistent and very iodized, as well as a divine Landes duck foie gras in terrine and fleur de sel (€24.95).
Creamy and very sweet, served simply alone on the plate, it has the quality of being sufficient in itself. To accompany our dinner, the sommelier recommended a white wineamong 700 references, guided by our floral desires, a Condrieu (23€) with notes of apricot, which turned out to be perfect.
As for the main course, the menu is designed for all tastes, from beef to fish, including lamb or rabbit. Here, we are far from the small portions of certain gourmets, the plates are well filled !
Ces slow-cooked rabbit pasta (€36.95), cooked with bacon and sage, were very generous and comforting, meltingly tender while the milk-fed veal chop (69.95€) very tender and ideally cooked, is practical to enjoy because it is already pre-cut, accompanied by perfectly seasoned rosemary and spinach.
After these admirable portions, we looked for an easy-to-digest dessert to share and turned to the poached pear (28.95€) and its very fresh sorbet, coated with fleur de sel chocolate for an exquisite light sweet and sour side.
On the lower floor, you can finish this real feast in a confidential cocktail bar under a magnificent vaulted cellar, crowned with black velvet chased with gold leaf, against a jazz background, the opportunity to test the house's creations in a Belle Epoque atmosphere.
Don't forget to to book for a beautiful evening to offer or treat yourself, something to celebrate an event or to really treat yourself before a digestive stroll under the Parisian moonlight.
