AJ Auxerre, which will make its return to Ligue 1 after a season in Ligue 2, will have to strengthen itself during this summer transfer window in order to avoid making the move. But with a small transfer window, the AJA will have to be smart and sniff out the right moves.
A transfer market which began in Burgundy with the arrival for 2 million euros of the versatile Ivorian midfielder/winger Lasso Coulibaly.
Regarding defense, Auxerre would be eyeing a Bulgarian international. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the AJA would indeed be interested in Valentin Antov.
Under contract until 2026 at AC Monza, the 23-year-old defender was successfully loaned this season to Cremonese who play in Serie B. Starting 30 times in the league, Antov delivered a full season, but obviously not enough to convince Monza which opened the door to a departure.
However, the Italian team will not sell off its defender. Arriving in 2021 on loan at Monza from CSKA Sofia, then transferred permanently for €4M in 2022, Valentin Antov should not be sold for less than that.
A loan with purchase option? Everything will depend on the offers that fall for the Bulgarian who is also coveted in Germany by Hamburg SV who play in Bundesliga 2.
