Something that works – “Beauty will save the world” was born in Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne) in 2021 during Covid-19 and will be deployed in 31 other cities in France. The idea? Display works of Art on billboards
Thirty-two cities in France are turning sunny. Since 2021, “Beauty saves the world” in Saint-Dizier, a town of 25,000 inhabitants in Haute-Marne. After having spread to six other cities in 2023, the system has reached 30 cities*.
Simultaneously, these communities will display monumental works of art on municipal display media. No more ads for a car or a supermarket, 4x3s, “lollipops”, bus shelters, public transport but also construction tarpaulins or the gates of public gardens will be decorated with hundreds of works by the greatest masters present in national museums. Large-scale duplication
Thanks to this system, culture is accessible to all and free of charge. The initiative was spotted by the French Federation of Things That Work, which promotes little-known initiatives which have proven themselves and which can be transposed to another municipality.
