The Drôme departmental youth council, made up entirely of young people supported by child protection, won the Territoria Or prize.
In September 2023, the Drôme department set up a departmental youth council composed solely of young people supported by child protection. An initiative which, a year later, is rewarded. In fact, five young people from this council went to the National Assembly on Tuesday, November 13, accompanied by Marielle Figues, departmental advisor responsible for children.
There, they received their Territoria Gold prize – a prize launched in 1986 by the Territoria Observatory -, won in the “citizen democracy” category. This approach by the Drôme department will be extended for the coming years: all children taken care of by Child Welfare will be able to claim a place on this youth council. For this first year, 25 volunteers aged 8 to 19 were brought together by the Department. The council then met once a month between September 2023 and September 2024.
