Pétanque: Raymond Le Manac'h re-elected hands down as head of the Haute-Garonne committee

the essential
It is a triumphant re-election for the outgoing president, Raymond Le Manac'h, who won more than 90% of the votes last weekend during the elective departmental congress which took place in Bessières.

What are your feelings after this re-election?

It is obviously a satisfaction to be re-elected with more than 90% of the votes. Casually, with list voting, we are never safe from a bad surprise, which was less the case in the era of single-member voting. The participation rate was very high, you should know that there were 200 clubs represented out of the 219 listed in our department.

What should we remember from this Bessierain session?

In all sincerity, that a consensus has emerged, that pétanque evolves in a good atmosphere. Crossing the threshold of 11,000 licensees will not be an easy task, but it is already possible to say that the financial situation is healthy. And this, even if the accounts were closed on September 30 and not October 30 as is usually the case. The forecast budget was established on the basis of 10,500 licensees, so as not to be too presumptuous.

No bone of contention to deplore?

No, as long as the license remains at the same price. In addition, the number of disciplinary cases is decreasing, which shows that the actions taken, particularly against the scourge of alcohol, have not been wasted. Ensuring that the audience for pétanque and its image improve even further is a very, very important area of work.

What about the highly anticipated 2025 calendar?

Sites and dates, this major file is progressing under the leadership of Joël Lanotte. We are even able to announce a considerable technological innovation which will make it easier to identify these same sites in advance.

Is a French championship, an incomparable sporting showcase for a large committee like ours, on the agenda?

I am not closing the door to any prospect, but we are dependent on a club capable of organizing such an event. We often talk about budget, but we must also take into account the ever-increasing thickness of the specifications. Now, for sure, there is potential, Fenouillet or Roquefort-sur-Garonne have it in spades.

A word about young people, one of your absolute priorities?

First and foremost, it will be a matter of facing formidable competition from sporting disciplines that are much more favored by the media.
