Politics: after joining the UDR, Freddy Gueudin removed from the municipal majority of Villeneuve-sur-Lot

A few days after taking the lead of the Lot-et-Garonnaise delegation of the Union of Rights (UDR), the party created by Eric Ciotti after the “pact” made with the National Rally during the last legislative elections, Freddy Gueudin s He was summoned by the two leaders of the Villeneuvoise majority, the mayor Gérard Régnier and the deputy (and municipal councilor) Guillaume Lepers. Freddy Gueudin was excluded from this majority. He was also an advisor responsible for monitoring the work. “Clearly positioned on the extreme right, the UDR is a party which is therefore not in conformity with the political line of the municipal majority “New Cap for Villeneuve-sur-Lot”” assures the City in a press release.

“I make a real difference between my commitment within a political party and my commitment within the municipal council of Villeneuve-sur-Lot. If my functions change at the departmental level with this change of party, my desire to work for my fellow citizens within the municipal council remains unchanged,” declared Freddy Gueudin when his change of party was announced. He will undoubtedly sit alongside Nadine Pinzato, the only RN municipal councilor in the Villeneuvois hemicycle.

The left awaiting a “necessary clarification of political alliances”

Also on the opposition side, this announcement was an opportunity to launch a few missives. The two left-wing groups, Villeneuve en Commun and Ensemble pour Villeneuve, were moved by the choice of Freddy Gueudin “which raises profound questions about the political orientation of the current municipal majority”. “This announcement comes in an already troubled context: during the last meeting of the municipal council, Madame Pinzano, representative of the National Rally list, entrusted a mandate of representation to another member of the majority” laments the Villeneuvoise left, from there to wonder if “has the municipal majority broadened its political alliances towards the extreme right? […] It is time for clarity and transparency to prevail. »

The municipal council scheduled for this Monday, November 25 should lead Mayor Gérard Régnier to react to all these maneuvers in front of elected officials. “He is deeply shocked by the exploitation that is made by some of the individual choice made by Freddy Gueudin” we say from the City. “False information spread on social networks could suggest that there is a gap between the political line of the municipal majority and the ideas of the extreme right. Personally hurt by these repeated anathemas, he finds these political amalgams shocking to the view of the humanist values ​​which have always guided his action as an elected Republican.”
