Since November 14, three agents from the Melkior – Garré high school (which depends on the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana) have been on strike. Their picket, installed at the entrance to the establishment, remains in place this November 19. They denounce the unsanitary conditions and the presence of rats in the linen room and the school's teaching restaurant.
After six days, the mobilization of agents from the Melkior – Garré high school continues. Still installed on the picket line in front of the establishment, Isabelle Sainguiny, Force Ouvrière general secretary at the CTG, takes stock:
We had a first meeting last Friday. Some of the proposals were made, but above all, we wanted the elected officials who came to negotiations to be able to visit the laundromat, the store and the workshop.
On this point, the elected officials won their case with the visit of several elected officialsincluding that of MP Davy Rimane or that of Annie Robinson-Chocho, 2th Vice-President of the CTG, delegate for education and school construction.
However, negotiations are still ongoing.
The different points have been presented and the community is looking for certain formulations to see how to satisfy us. We're holding out, but it's well underway.
