This is a file that we have been talking about for a (very) long time which seems to be coming to fruition. In planning for many years, the Courtry bypass (Seine-et-Marne) could see the light of day within a few years.

Latest environmental studies, route, timetable, here are the details.

The project

As a reminder, the Courtry bypass project is old. Very old. In detail, it involves creating a new road of just over 2 kilometersavoiding the center of the town, passing through the northand maintaining a certain distance from existing homes.

The road would start from the roundabout at the intersection between the D86 and the D2086, near Le Pin, crossing the D84 south of the ball-trap and the photovoltaic power plant, to join the D86 at the roundabout of the Île-de-, where the Route de , the Rue du Général de Gaulle, and the Avenue de l'Europe intersect.

Environmental studies

In recent months, various environmental studies were carried out around the route of the future road, some made complicated by the presence of illegal dumps or steep slopes.

They revealed the presence of different remarkable, even protected, plant and animal species. In detail, we therefore find some 53 protected speciesamong which there are 36 species of birds, one amphibianor even eight of bats.

We also count two species of non-flying mammals protected nationally.

As for the collective agricultural compensation study, the initial state has been carried out. The total scope of the project represents in fact 8,89 hectaresand extends over 150 cadastral plots.

55 to 60%

According to projections from the Department of Seine-et-Marne, the establishment of the bypass road would have a more than positive impact on the city center of Courtry. As proof, traffic, once the bar is open, should decrease by 55 to 60% in the center of the town, during peak hours.

In addition, geotechnical studies have highlighted a risk of melting, “given the presence of gypsum”, but there are solutions, such as waterproofing ditches and shoulders, or installing geogrids.

Some chronological benchmarks…

After the environmental studies that were carried out in 2024on water, air or even fauna and flora, or even the impact studies which should continue next year, thepublic inquiry should begin in 2025.

Following this, the conclusion of the impact study for the declaration of public utility should end in 2026, a period when land acquisitions should begin and last until 2027.

Then, in 2027, the Department should consult businesses, for work to be carried out in 2028 and in 2029, year during which the road should welcome its first users.

So, until then, there is still a little way to go, but the train, not to say the car, seems to be moving.
