Electrification of diesel buses, extension of the tram to neighboring France, extension of the network off the Geneva countryside: by recently concluding the five-year TPG service contract, the deputies inflicted a halt to the growth of transport in common. Elected officials were doubtful about the allocation of 2 billion francs for the period 2025-2029 which should allow the authority to increase its offer by 30%.
The resources allocated to public transport have often represented an area of tension in Geneva. In fact, the canton was a pioneer in the development of the automobile, and the authorities have long been reluctant to invest in public transport, explain in their work the historian Ludovic Maugué and the writer Moreno Berva.
