On the occasion of the Assises des Départements de France which took place from November 13 to 15 in Angers, Serge Rigal, president of the Lot Department, and the presidents of the left-wing Departments mobilized so that the Barnier government reconsiders its copy concerning the 2025 finance law. Serge Rigal: “If the measures it contains are adopted as they are by Parliament, then it will be budgetary asphyxiation for the Departments. For the Department of Lot alone, we have been announced a drain of 8 million euros! That is as much less than we will invest for our seniors, our college students, for the disabled or even on the roads. This is unacceptable because not only are we not responsible for the public deficit. : in 10 years, the Lot has reduced its debt by half and doubled its annual investments. But in addition, the government's decisions endanger the local social and territorial justice missions of the Departments.”
