Every year for four years, the city of Amiens has implemented, in its finance, a participatory budget up toa million euros pour carry out the projects of residents and associations. This initiative encourages the creativity of Amiens residents on projects visible in public spaces. The goal is to improve everyone's daily life. These ideas are often linked to the living environment, the environment, solidarity or even youth.
38 projects selected
This year, 38 projects were selected, including five developed by CM2 students from 45 Amiens schools. Among these projects, we find in particular:
- Installation of more benches and sports equipment for young people
- Installation of insect hotels
- Vegetation in schoolyards
- Solidarity sewing workshop
- Creation of a public park
- Creation of a pétanque court
- Street art in schools
- Creation of play areas
How does the participatory budget work?
In May, residents submitted their ideas and projects. Then, from May to October, city departments studied the ideas to ensure they met the criteria. A list with 38 projects was then established. From October 25 to December 1, everyone can vote for their favorite projects. And from January 2025, the city commits to implementing the ideas that receive the most votes.
To vote, you must go to the Amiens Métropole website. You will then have access to all the projects and you can vote for the ones you want. If you don't have internet, you can always go to the Elbeuf social center on 21 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and to the Tour du Marais (rue Victorine-Autier) on 19 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The finances of the city of Amiens
The projects which have won the most votes will share the sum of €30,000. For the rest, €600,000 will be dedicated to individual or collective projects and €370,000 will be for association ideas.
