Appearing last year in the Old Port, the Scène sur l’eau immediately met with resounding success, attracting 75,000 spectators in just four days of shows. Building on this enthusiasm, the City of Marseille decided this year to triple the number of shows offered, thus offering an even richer cultural program.
For its second edition, the Water Scene will extend from July 6 to August 4, 2024, marking the opening of the summer season with spectacular shows at the foot of the Town Hall.
Throughout the summer, a multitude of artists will perform in front of the Marseillaises and the Marseillais, with 11 free shows accessible to all. The eclectic program will include song, rap, electro, pop, world music, circus and stand-up, reflecting the cultural diversity of Marseille. Spectators will be able to enjoy exceptional performances from renowned artists like Massilia Sound System, who will celebrate her forty-year career, Véronique Sanson, Kid Francescoli, French 79, (La)Horde, and emerging artists like Johan Papaconstantino.
In accordance with its commitment to equality, the City has ensured a balanced representation of female and male artists. As the Mediterranean capital, Marseille also opens its stage to other port cities such as Oran, Tangier, Algiers, Beirut, Athens, Naples and Cairo, allowing artists from all over the Mediterranean to perform in front of the ‘City Hall.
