A project to install photovoltaic panels at the place called Les Combes in Garrigues-Sainte-Eulalie, was deposited with the DDTM of Gard, where it is currently being investigated.
The Garrigues solar park project led by the company Luxel
On November 4, 2024, a consultation period on this project, which will be followed by a public inquiry. It is Maïlys Graulet of the company Luxel, located in Montpellier, which manages the operation. This company manages solar projects in their entirety, from their design until dismantling.
Nearly 6 hectares of solar installations planned in Garrigues-Sainte-Eulalie
This park will have a power of 5.48MWp (peak megawatt) and will occupy an area of 5,9 hectares. It will produce approximately 8,200MWh/year (megawatt hour per year). “Its average annual production corresponds to the electricity consumption of around 3,800 inhabitants. The installation will save around 2,160 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, or more or less than 65,000 tonnes over 20 years” , believes Maïlys Graulet.
A public information meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 20, at 7 p.m., in the town hall council room, in the presence of elected officials and Luxel teams.
A local association stands up against the multiplication of projects around Uzès
The Uzège – Pont du Gard sustainable association (UPGD), which brings together fourteen local environmental associations, is categorically opposed to the photovoltaic park project in Fontarèches and lists the various projects envisaged in the territory of Uzège Pont du Gard.
Among other arguments, this is the logic of photovoltaic park projects in scrubland and forests that the association destroys. “Ground-mounted solar parks operate intermittently (which maintains the use of gas power plants), are not very productive and are large consumers of space. Their installation must therefore be reserved for sterile and already anthropized surfaces. (former landfills and quarries, car parks, large roofs, etc.)”.
