The classification adopted by the Châlons-en-Champagne public prosecutor's office reflects the seriousness and horror of the facts. The prosecution of this Marne judicial court opened an investigation for “kidnapping, sequestration and attempted rape leading to mutilation or permanent disability” after the discovery of a young woman with terrible injuries, this Sunday morning in Châlons- en-Champagne.
The victim, bleeding and in a state of shock, was rescued on the public highway at 6:40 a.m., rue Jacques-Prévert in the heart of the Croix Dampierre district, as revealed this Monday early in the evening by the newspaper website L'Union . This young woman, believed to be 25 years old, was taken care of by the firefighters and hospitalized, with no vital prognosis, but in serious condition, with numerous wounds. According to a source close to the case, the victim had his face slashed, an ear cut off and a finger severed.
It was a person living nearby who was first alerted by screams coming from outside, then who saw the silhouette of a man hitting a woman in a parking lot, where they were found numerous traces of blood, witnesses to the savagery of the attack. The perpetrator had meanwhile fled, perhaps behind the wheel of a white utility vehicle.
According to our information, a vehicle of this type was discovered abandoned in a canal. In the passenger compartment, investigators noted a trace of blood between the passenger seat and the driver's seat. As for the owner of this utility, he would be very unfavorably known for rape. At this stage, it is unknown if there is a link between this suspect and the young victim. The investigation was entrusted to the local judicial police service (SLPJ) of Châlons and the organized and specialized crime division (DCOS) of Reims.
