CAN 2025 (Q), BURKINA FALLS, SENEGAL REMAINS LEADER OF GROUP L

iGFM (Dakar) Burkina Faso finished the CAN 2025 qualifiers very poorly, falling heavily in Lilongwe against Malawi (3-0), this Monday during the 6th and final day of qualifying.

The first to have qualified for the final phase of CAN 2025 last month, the Stallions deprived of executives like Bertrand Traoré, Edmond Tapsoba, Issa Kaboré, Blati Touré, Hervé Koffi, Dango Ouattara, Gustavo Sangaré and Mohamed Konaté, presented themselves with a more than overhauled eleven and they completely took on water against a Malawi already eliminated and which until then had not recorded the slightest victory.

Two defeats to finish, Senegal benefits

Mhango opened the scoring with a nice long shot (28th), then Mbulu (57th) and L. Aaron (62nd) added to the score by scoring in quick succession in the space of five minutes in the second half. Brama Traoré’s men could still have reduced the score at the end but the opposing goalkeeper made a decisive save from a corner.

After starting the qualifications with a promising draw from Senegal, Burkina Faso ends them on a much less positive note and with two consecutive defeats since today’s defeat follows that during the clash against Senegal on Thursday (1-0 ). The Stallions will have totaled 10 points during this campaign (3 victories, a draw and 2 defeats), which makes them the runners-up to the Senegalese leader. With 13 points, the Senegal Lions will finish first in Group L whatever happens, this Tuesday against Burundi in Dakar.
