Météo France has issued a yellow level meteorological vigilance situation to monitor for the “Wind” parameter of Tuesday November 19 at 8 p.m to Wednesday November 20, 2024 has 18 h at least
Tuesday evening, the Libeccio strengthens throughout the department with strong gusts. In particular, we expect 120 to 140 km/h in gusts on Balagne and more than 150 km/h on Cap Corse. The Basti region should initially remain spared with up to 90 km/h. The relief is also affected by strong gusts throughout the central range with locally 120 to 150 km/h.
The strong wind episode continues on Wednesday with a further strengthening of the wind generally during the day. The strong gusts should this time affect the Bastia region and the south-east of the island.
A worsening of vigilance could be considered on Wednesday.
The Haute-Corse prefecture calls on the population to be extremely vigilant and reiterates the precautionary instructions:
- Limit your movements and take shelter,
- Do not walk in the forest or on the coast,
- Stop all outdoor activities,
- Do not go to sea, do not get into the water and stop all water activities,
- In town, be vigilant of possible falling objects,
- On roads and motorways, limit your speed (especially caravans and teams),
- Store or secure objects sensitive to the effects of wind or likely to be damaged,
- Do not work on roofs and under no circumstances touch electrical wires that have fallen to the ground.
