“Rue Charles Dumont, singer-songwriter”. At number two of this street in the village of La-Ferrière-sur-Risle (Eure), the white plaque stands out against the half-timbered facade. Annick and Alain Clergé are the owners of the place, they actually have their home after having invested in the building for years by operating a restaurant there. In the entrance, Alain opens the electric meter cupboard and takes out, hanging inside, several press clippings which relate theinauguration of the street on January 9, 2013in the presence of the artist.
It was the mayor at the time, Jean-Jacques Hubert, who died a few months later, who had this idea. It must be said that the mayor had several strings to his bow, since he was also known as a musician with DJ' Jack, as his stage name. “Jean-Jacques, he was better known than Charles Dumont” laughs Alain Clergé.
