The opening of the Lauzet-Ubaye health center – a town of less than 200 inhabitants more accustomed to seeing services disappear than welcoming them – is a small event.
This project was carried out thanks to close collaboration between the municipality, the elected officials of the territory and the State – which financed 27,223 euros of the 38,433 euros necessary for the transformation of the premises of the old school into a modern space suitable for care.
“Both wanted to practice their profession here”
But this health center is also and above all the story of a meeting and a shared commitment: “It all started when I met Gabrielle Bertrand, a doctor from Dijon who bought a house in the townremembers Agnès Pignatel, the mayor. Then I met Mélissa Picard, a physiotherapist who had just moved to Méolans-Revel. Both, each with their own background, shared the desire to practice their profession here.”
The inauguration of the health center took place in the presence of the sub-prefect of Barcelonnette, Pierre-Henri Vray, who recalled the vocation of the State to support the projects of small municipalities with limited resources, particularly when it comes to essential services such as health.
This local tool also offers telemedicine and remote consultations with specialists to allow everyone to benefit from more complete support despite geographical distance.
To complete the offer of this new structure, Gabrielle Bertrand offers home visits for people who have difficulty getting around.
