A 17-year-old boy shot in the head in the street in Rumilly

Shots were fired in Rumilly, near (Haute-Savoie), this Sunday afternoon. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the head, while an 18-year-old man was seriously injured. His vital prognosis is in jeopardy, indicates The Dauphiné.

It was around 4:30 p.m. when the events took place on Place d'Armes, in the center of this town of 16,000 inhabitants. One or more shooters fired, fatally hitting Nabil, 17, in the head. His friend, Zyed, 18, was shot in the chest. Seriously injured, he was airlifted to the Annecy-Genevois Hospital Center in a state of absolute emergency.

The circumstances of the facts remain unclear at this stage. Witnesses interviewed by our colleagues speak of a brawl between at least five people. Some people talk about a fight between a group of young people from the Teppes district in Annecy, and the two victims living in Rumilly, after a first fight which allegedly took place the day before. Other witnesses described the presence of two suspects on motorcycles. The passenger allegedly opened fire on the victims, near a restaurant, then the two accomplices fled.

“There were lots of families with children on the square”

Around fifty gendarmes set up a security perimeter to carry out careful observations of this crime scene. The Chambéry research brigade was responsible for the investigations. A psychological cell was opened to take care of the witnesses.

“This is happening in Rumilly, you realize! This Sunday, there were lots of families with children on the square, a little one could also have caught a stray bullet! That scares me”reacted the mayor of Rumilly, Christian Dulac, to from Dauphiné.
