A boat ravaged by flames in Aigues-Mortes

THE Gard firefighters are currently in intervention, and have been since 12:45 a.m. after a major ship fire declared himself on the quay of port of Aigues-Mortes. 35 firefighters and 10 vehicles were involved in this fire with a high risk of spreading to a second boat. The intervention is still underway this Sunday morning in order to secure the impacted area. The origin of the fire is still unknown.

No casualties to report

Totally ravaged by flames, the boat was completely destroyed. Fortunately, the owner, usually living on the boat, was not on board at the time of the fire. No casualties are therefore to be deplored.

The mobilized firefighters were able to protect the second boat located near the first and engulfed in flames. Furthermore, the area was secured by divers and a floating boom was placed to contain the pollution by the chemical risks team.
