In Côtes-d'Armor, a murder case experienced an express resolution. A dealer has in fact himself alerted the authorities after discovering the body of a man in his seventies, leading to the arrest of a man in his thirties indicted for homicide, according to information from France Bleu.
The drama took place in the small town of Gouarec, in Côtes-d'Armor. Wednesday, November 13, the body of a 70-year-old man was found, about a hundred meters from a home on Rue Nationale. He is a drug dealer, delivering narcotics, who played an unexpected role in this investigation, reveals France Bleu.
After discovering the body, the trafficker contacted the gendarmes' digital brigade. During his testimony, he revealed the existence of a weapon in the home and mentioned suspicious exchanges on his phone, potentially linked to the victim. The dealer also specified that the suspect, a 30-year-old man, had already shown violence towards the septuagenarian.
Thanks to this information, the GIGN intervened to arrest the suspect. While in police custody, the latter admitted to having “tangled” with the victim on Tuesday, November 12 at the end of the afternoon. An altercation which would have degenerated, and a blow would have led to the fatal fall of the septuagenarian. Thinking he was still alive, the suspect allegedly carried the body to a nearby lawn.
The autopsy revealed multiple fractures, injuries to the face and chest, as well as wounds to the hands caused by a sharp object. A burn on the victim's wrist was also noted.
A complex but separate case from drug trafficking
The dealer who made the report, however, did not escape justice. The search of his home led to the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, including 24 kg of cannabis resin and 1.5 kg of weed.
Found guilty of trafficking via the Telegram application, he was sentenced to two years in prison, including six months suspended, and immediately imprisoned.
The Saint-Brieuc prosecutor, however, clarified that no link had been established between the murder of the septuagenarian and drug trafficking. As for the suspect, he was indicted for murder and placed in pre-trial detention.
